I asked a fella today to mark the second lift of a 25m by 4m birdcage come independent and was told its easier and faster to bubble it in.am I missing something? Is there a new stabila out that makes it quicker and easier?or am I old fashioned .

Chalk mark on the standards for me. The less that bubble comes out the better.

Its ok marking off ur own lift but allways bubble if someone else ran it in, as assuming everythings in can cause a shiiit load of xtra time if it aint- gets me everytime i've come off someone elses lift -up & down like a pair of DBs lol...

Depending on the standard spacings, you would only need to mark off everyother standard.
Shouldnt take too long marking off 30 odd standards.
One mark, one put the doubles on.
Voila.

Just chalk every other standard and away you go, it will always be as good as what your standing on, chalking is a he'll of a lot faster then bubbling, and often works out better if you have the odd benmt ledger.

Always found marking off with chalk far faster.....
Lot of guys cannot mark off or fix the doubles true and square with any precision.
When using b&p marked every 2/3 standards then took the sag out of the intermediates

I tend to use sh1t on a stick, flick it and watch it fly (hopefully at the correct lift height)

I use a roofers lat, double straight on every other standard but you have to use the same kind of double as they are different sizes
Telescopic clothes line prop from b&a 5 quid weld a piece of 1 inch x5 inch flat bar on the bottom this enables it to sit on the ledger below when the lift is fully boarded and guardrail ed A market pen will push into the top . Also you can mark off the advanced guard rail off the existing guardrail . Weld an extension on the top tube and you can mark off 3metre lifts .

Sit you marking on the bolt of the double. Doesn't matter what type of double you use.
