my Part 1 runs out the end of this month as it has been 18 month since i did the course. i have got the application form offline and handed it to my employer last month as there is an employer section on the form. as of yet my employer still has not looked at the form and says he hasnt got time.

is there anyway to renew my card without my employer having to fill anything in because by time he gets round to it (if he ever does) my card will have expired and i really dont want that to happen

just renew your cscs card and apply for that I believe you can only renew your card twice then your part two must be taken don't quote me on it bud but I think this is your only route theres plenty of guys on here that will help you try double standards he will put you right

How can he not have time to look at a form...?
This was on the Cisrs website..
Q: What is the process for renewing my CISRS card?

All existing cardholders will be required to renew their cards in line with the scheme. Cards are required to be renewed at the following frequencies:

Scaffolding Labourer Card valid for 5 years. Initial Trainee Cards are valid for 18 months within which time a trainee must commence CISRS training and undertake a minimum of Part 1 Training course.

Trainee Cards can be renewed for a further 18 month period if the trainee has completed a Part 1 course. They would be expected to complete their Part 2 and VQ Level 2 within this second 18 month period.

Scaffolder Cards are valid for 5 years

Advanced Scaffolder cards are valid for 5 years

Scaffolding Supervisor Cards are valid for 5 years

Card holders are required to renew their cards by completing the relevant application form and level of CITB H&S Test (or equivalent) within 2 years of renewal.

Click here for the application forms

Renewal notices will be sent to the last known address approximately 3 months prior to the card expiry date.

Dont think you need your employer to sign it, just put your address on it and your card should come to yours. I think your right cowboy, he may have to do his part two quite sharpish.

Like den said you dont need your employer to sighn it- download another form from their website i thnk its about £26.50 plus you must have a valid touchscreen.....but i think if i've read it right they may now make you do a 1day cots course but i'm not 100% on that as youve completed ur pt1...if alls ok you should get ur new card between2-3wks

Any cisrs qualified scaffolder can fill in the employer section on the form, it doesn't need to be an employer, always got my father to sign that section as we worked self employed and never had a full time employer, phone the helpline number on the form and am sure they'll confirm this

Cumbria your CISRS trainee card is valid for a shorter duration than other cards to ensure you complete your training in a timely manner.
Your employer should of sent you on your part 2 by now, and if he hasn't got time to sign his name, I think there may be other issues here ;)

What u gotta remember hatterscaff is individuals ability to learn is differnt also a company may not be in a position to send someone off so quickly- personally i think the trainees card should be just that ATrainee & open ended & get rid of the labours card. Years ago it was allways open ended.
Tbh if i had a guy who had only been on for a few months & needed sending away so soon,i dont think i would either...its a big investment to someone that could possibily jump ship s8 after it

Your right SP, as I said there may be other issues here that we are not aware of, some lads can sail through, others may take twice as long, and some employers don’t want to risk investing in training at various times for whatever reason, but not to sign the form FFS

I know what you mean - normally down to insurcurity he prob thinks if he renews it then the lad will be offski lol he may have trouble getting lads -i know i have, well decent ones anyway lol

I thought you had to do your part 2 within 18 months of your part 1,must have got the wrong end of the stick somewhere along the line.

No m8 ur allowed to renew it once then if not done ur pt1 go back to labours tckt

ive only been with this company about 2 month which may be the reason he isnt signing my form. i am paying for the renewal myself so i dont see the problem

I would take your part 2 rather sharpish Cumbria if you don't keep up with the times you will be dipping into your own pocket lets go on a practical mathematical view if you had saved £10 per week for 18 months you would be more than comfortable taking your part 2 don't go back go forward and leave a trail of destruction behind you, lol
