Luke Guthrie
Part2 Basic Scaffolder
Reg No:03105334

Personal Profile:

I left school in 2007 and immediately enrolled with Rathbone College to gain qualifications suitable for the construction industry. The course I was intrigued by was scaffolding and I was accepted onto the NVQ Level 2 course. I successfully passed my part 1 and part 2 modules in October 2012 and now hold a GNVQ Level 2 Qualification in scaffolding.

Other modules of the course included NVQ level 2 Mathematics and English literature. Both of which I have achieved in order that I could successfully achieve my construction award. Whilst on the construction programme I managed to secure employment with Coast Scaffolding Services, a local organisation with whom I have been working with for over 5 years.

During this period, I have developed a greater understanding of scaffolding practices and procedures and have recently been authorized to support others less experienced. My employer had contracts with Kier Northern and this allowed me to maintain my employment options as work expanded and grew. Regrettably, this contract has been reduced and as a consequence, I have been made redundant.

My employer has stated that he would readily employ me again if the opportunity arose and on several occasions has hired me for short term contracts as they materialized. He would be happy to speak with anyone regarding my work history and commitment. I am currently looking to secure employment and look forward to demonstrating my skills during interview or work trial if required.

Work History:

2007 – 2012 Coast Scaffolding Services Scaffolder
My duties include the erecting of scaffolding for private or commercial sites throughout the Northeast of England. It was essential to be punctual and reliable as many contracts were time bound and had critical assembly deadlines. I have worked with many scaffolders over the years and gained a lot of valuable experience.

Qualification:

2007 - 2010 Level 1&2 tube and fitting
2011 - 2011 Pull Testing TG4:04
2011 - 2011 Asbestos Awareness
2010 - 2010 PASMA Expires 2015
2012 - 2012 CSCS Expires 2015

CV is OK mate, you shouldn't need to worry about a CV until you go for bigger jobs I would imagine ie supervisor etc as it's mainly word of mouth. Unless it's McCrorys and they'll make you go for an interview an all

Divide into more paragraphs to make it easier on the eye.

school boy error leaving my number on haha. Thanks for your comments :)

Under your name put Part 2 Basic scaffolder and your registration no! It's the first thing they look for, what grade and having your registration no there will make it easy for them for online checks! Also scan copies of your cards(both sides) and attach it with cv! Also break the top part up abit! Like the lad above said, easy on the eye!

And don't forget your willing to do a work TRAIL!., when did you do he pull test was it still TG4:04 or had it changed to TG4:11?

I would tend to agree with HSWT, make it interesting with regards to projects you've worked on. It seems you have been with only the one employer, so adding different contracts/projects worked on and cutting down on the personal profile would definately make it a bit more eyecatching. You have great information in the profile but just shorten that and add it to work experience on said projects.

Hope it helps

Good Luck!

PS. Dont be afraid to stretch the truth... Dont Lie tho... That would be baaad!!

I'd only read the second and last paragraphs.

Employers are really more interested in what sort of work you have been doing. eg. a London street scaffolding firm probably isn't going to be very interested in someone who has worked on power stations and oil rigs for the last 10 years, and an industrial scaffolding firm based in Aberdeen isn't going to be very interested in a square-basher who is used to going home at 3pm everyday.

As for all the stuff about being reliable and a quality scaffolder - everyone says that mate, so it's all pretty pointless, regardless of whether or not it's true.

I have seen a LOT worse, though.

Good luck.
