Mission and Purpose of Role:
Supporting and managing the commercial aspects ofvarious national scaffolding related projects.
Designing and implementing improved systems and processes for the review and management of contracts within support services.
Key Objectives of the Role:
·Support tender processes for major projects.
·Review CTAFs returned by operations and undertake pre-tender submission risk reviews and/or internal consultancy actions when deemed necessary.
·Routine communication with Management Accountant and Credit Controller to identify and confirm areas of commercial exposure for the company.
·Monthly review of "problem contracts" identified by Management Accountant or Credit Controller.
·Undertake local audits of Contracts and Processes with the objective of helping the branches to improve financial/commercial performance. Main areas:
-Revenue optimisation
-Labour control / efficiency
-Management of scaffolding material
-Compliance with TKP Commercial Process
-Coaching/Consulting of branches when they face major commercial problems
·To take on the management of debt collection via adjudication as required.
·Revaluation if complete contracts if required, dialogue with customer QS to conclusion.
·Will require travel within the UK with occasional overnight stays.
·Reporting to the Financial Controller
•Further legal training will be provided.
Job Level Overview and Accountabilities:
Process-
·Ensures compliance to contractual arrangements.
·Undertake process improvement at branches from tender stage to final account settlement
·Improvement to way support services reviews the contract information and monthly management accounts.
Financial-
·Make recommendations how branches can make cost saving and better manage their labour costs.
·Make recommendations to ensure revenue for each contract is maximised.
·Monitor project costs and performance for early identification of differences to the tender to avert problems.
·Assist in the recovery of debts that are referred to Credit Control
People-
·Effectively communicate with internal technical and operations staff to establish a clear understanding of the contract delivery requirements.
·Effectively communicate with client representatives to develop relationships and to negotiate and settle contractual and financial disputes.
Knowledge and Applied Skills:
Skills
·Applicants will have a wealth of experience as a quantity surveyor gained with main contractor or larger subcontractor.
·A high degree of expertise with relevant software packages (esp. MS-Excel) is required.Knowledge of CASE is advantageous.
Qualifications
·Preference will be given to applicants with a relevant university degree (e.g. Commercial Management, Surveying, etc.) and / professional membership of RICS.
