AYE im half pisssed:eek:

I used them on several occasions in early days & a Power Podger with battery's was not required .

5 ingredients that consist of a B&P - (G.A. can advise)

One of the Ingredients: Chair.(Get a firmer grip reduce slippage comes to mind)

B & P still use them over here now & again for under slings with only 3 ingredients.(Other 2 Chairs & Thumbscrews missing)

Just getting over a senior moment, we used an abundance when working on new build Kelvin Flats Sheffield in early 70s (now demolished)

I use them a lot still drilled into walls they are an excellent fitting ,
I ain't seen a chair in use although I have a couple I use as paper weights lol
Even in the very early 80s we used nothing but band and plate and DH there where no chairs used , I suppose they where easy lost around jobs

Having started scaffolding in the 60's I have the pleasure in confessing to having used the band and plate fitting complete with chair and working thumbscrews. God I'm old!

Those of you that remember a podger will remember the U shaped end which was used for tightening the thumbscrews

We use them, new with thumb screws but no chairs in sight. Never seen chairs with band and plate

We use them on walls roof saddles etc but haven't built a full scaffold with them in years. Does many use them now for general use or r they just for certain jobs. Good fitting I agree

B&P were and indeed are the best fitting ever invented!!
The chair was still in use when I started but seldom returned from site after use.

The chair took the fitting from a 6.25kN fitting to a 12.5kN fitting if memory serves?

Still love to use a B&P for bolting to walls or slabs cant think of a scaffold where a B&P would not work

You should just see the Chair peeping out at the top of the B&P,
don't have a better pic to had at the moment

Been furiously going through the old paperwork in the attic to find Chair with band and plate illustration without success over the past days, well done AL.

It's not knowing the answers that matters its knowing where to find them that's important :)

Some of the old SGB gangs fastest I've ever seen. But if one was dropped run for your life there'd be more than a few holes, if it missed you the energy produced when hitting the ground could take a truck out. Always best to bomb in boxed pairs as advised (when bombing was taught as an art by old skool and credibility judge on your courage/strength and aiming skills not NVQ results)

P.S wet blankets and the usual im shocked there's a toeboard clip missing P.C. brigade feel free to comment.

Cheers for that Teesside and everyone else who posted.
Throwing set was also an art form
I was quite good at it almost but when they came apart as already stated feck knows what way it they would go

Aye, the Daddy of them all…ingenious design, quality sprung steel band hence the uncertainty of the direction of the Rick o' Shay when it hit the deck from hight…

Question : Urban Myth… True or False…

B & P + D/H were first used in conjunction with 1 inch and 27/28 th's O/D water pipes ( Maximum Length of water pipes just so happened to be 21 Feet ;) )

The only coupler you can deploy with two six inch nails
