Description

To follow a recognised Construction Skills apprenticeship route through to gaining an NVQ2 in Scaffolding and Access. The apprentice would be given a six month trial at the yard to assess suitability before being registered with Construction Skills CISRS scheme. Then embark on a training programme under supervision. Duties include loading & unloading vehicles, ability to identify defective equipment & remove from service, assist in servicing equipment, stacking and storing, ensuring that equipment & vehicles are maintained in a clean & tidy condition, understand & co-operate in H & S matters, select correct materials and help scaffolder on site.

Thats the "Old School" way of training up Scaffolders

6 month in Yard, and if you come up to scratch out with the boys learning your trade,If you are any good you will be out the yard in a couple of months

Problem is these days there are a lot companies, charging a lot of money, to provide the plastic and paper to show "competence"

ur spot on there rigger! but most scaff yards these days dont have young up and cuming lads that want to learn from the bottom up wot they do now and have done for more than 10yrs is do it yts,that way they dont need to work!!!! get there pt1 then 6mounths later pt2 and thats just tossing around a building site carrying 1bord!! no experience wot so ever just like most adv scaffs ive had work with me.

I've been running my own company now for over 12yrs and for the last few its been hard -really hard, unfortuntley many people seem to think your earning mega bucks,and ur not-but if i didnt think it was gonna get better i'd sell up 2moro - the thing is whenever i try & invest in trainees both time and money they all buut a few take the tickets &go... got to the cynical stage where i'd rather pay xtra and get the experianced ticket holder than waste my time emparting my wisdom on someone who doent deserrve it. Many years ago i was told that one day your ticket will be the thing that gets u the job,not ur experiance and with so many not investing in the future you'll be able to name ur price....how right was he
