Amid the Bahamas style weather bracing the UK, firms are being urged to relax workplace dress codes.

To help staff cope with the heat wave, firms are being advised to allow their staff to wear more comfortable clothes.

They are also being advised that any outdoor work should be done in the morning or afternoon- avoiding the midday sun.

Union organisation TUC have called for a change in the law to introduce a maximum temperature in the workplace, meaning employers would have to introduce cooling measures.

The TUC are also advising companies to supply workers with cool drinks and regular breaks throughout the day.

TUC General Secretary, Frances O'Grady, said: "While many of us will welcome the sunshine and warm temperatures this week, working in sweltering conditions can be unbearable and dangerous.

"Employers can give staff a break by relaxing dress codes and rules temporarily and ensuring staff doing outside work are protected
