Cool North west scaffolder collapses with 50 job cuts

North west scaffolder collapses with 50 job cuts

Aaron Morby | Thu 24th November | 8:30

Leading north west specialist contractor Grace Scaffolding Ltd has been placed in administration.

The firm employed around 48 staff operating out of a head office in Salford and branches in the Wirrall, Preston and Blackpool.

GSL was established more than 10 years ago and operated a fleet of 40 vehicles as well as carrying an extensive tube and fitting stockholding to handle large projects across the north west.

Joint Administrators’ Jeremy Woodside and Christopher Ratten of RSM Tenon Recovery in Manchester are trying to sell the business.

Its core jobs were in social housing refurbishment, private new-build and commercial refurbishment and new-build.

A shareholder disagreement at the company is understood to have meant it could not pay its debts.

The last set of accounts for October showed the contractor made a profit of £480,000 on sales of £2.4m.

According to the post from Teeside they are racking up a 20% profit. In good times this would be good. We obviously do not have the full story regarding Liabilities. I wonder if the banks are calling in a loan!

Not sure Binthere but looks like greed to me. As you say, maybe better waiting for more information from someone more clued up than me.

By all accounts a good firm to work for, never expected them to hit the buffers
