Ladder was 1 rung short so fitted a grab rail as no longer ladders on site at the time. Pretty sure this is acceptable unless I have missed something? Can’t find any literature to back my claim, any help?

It sounds like you're taking a practical approach by fitting a grab rail when the ladder was one rung short. While this might be acceptable as a temporary solution, it's important to check any specific safety standards or regulations for your industry regarding ladders and grab rails. If you can't find relevant literature, you may want to consult the latest safety guidelines or a professional for confirmation. Have you looked into the latest safety standards for this kind of situation?

I think you can add additional grab rails if the ladder is too short, I believe they would have to be at certain spacings similar to a ladder and not interfere with the safe use of the ladder. TG20 or the Work at Height regs should have something on this I reckon.
