It all depends a lot on where you really want to move to in Canada? Most people choose British Columbia because it has weather much closer to the UK. Crosbie Salamis is based in Newfoundland which is closer to England than it is to BC. All the union companies are very much the same. If you've ever worked blue book its basically the same. I'm not sure i would bother making the effort to emigrate to work offshore when you can work onshore for the same money. No your advanced card doesn't mean a thing here. It shows that you have experience but thats all. You would probably be drafted in as a journeyman on grandfather rights but that is changing very soon. Have you ever been to Canada?
I see you are interested in Canada and just thought i'd give you some info. I'm originally from London and moved out to vancouver around 5 years ago. Best decision i ever made. Money wise for a non-union firm you'd be looking at $24-30 in East and $28-$36 in the West but the top money is hard to get here when your not Canadian unless you work for Matakana. Don't listen to everything you hear about them I was earning over $100k a year with them and loved every minute. They are like every company they want to earn money and if you want to ponce about like your on holiday, or you want to come to a new country and tell them what to do your be off down the road. Anyways...
